This program is dedicated to my wife Heather and my son Shawn.
During these hard economic times, they have put up with my many
late nights and the countless weekends of work, to make ends meet
at T. H. E. Computer Enterprises.
I would like to thank Mr. Kevin Pitts and Mr. Richard Long for
their valuable comments and suggestions on this project.

LICENSING
FileADMIN is copyright and has been released for distribution as
SHAREWARE. You are granted a license to try FileADMIN for a
reasonable trial period without risk. If, after this time, you
find this program useful and intend to continue to use it, you
are expected to register.
The base registration fee is $7.00. This will entitle you to

well as entitle you to program support. Upon registration, you
will receive the current version of the FileADMIN program with-
out the Shareware opening and closing screens, plus detailed pro-
gram use documentation on disk. The registration document can be
found in REGISTER.DOC.
Please keep in mind that I must have a copy of the registration
form on hand before I can offer product support.
Operators of electronic bulletin boards (Sysops) are encouraged
to post FileADMIN for downloading by their users.

GETTING STARTED
WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE RECEIVED
FileADMIN is distributed in the form of a "ZIP" file created
using PKWare's PKZip (v1.10) archiving utility. This file should
contain the following three files:
FADMIN.EXE - The FileADMIN program file.
FADMIN.DOC - This document you are reading.
REGISTER.DOC - The registration form for this product.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
IBM PC/XT/AT or PS/2 or true compatible computer.
DOS v3.30 or higher.
AT least one floppy drive and a hard drive, or two floppy drives.
512k installed memory with at least 330k of free RAM.
Monochrome or colour video display.
The directory(s) containing COMMAND.COM, FORMAT.COM and
DISKCOPY.COM must be in the PATH statement.
GENERAL INFORMATION
FileADMIN was originally created for use in an educational LAN
environment. Therefore, it has certain qualities that are not
usually found in other file administrative type programs (ie. the
ability to limit recognition/access of certain drive letters).
When FileADMIN starts up it defaults to recognizing only A: and
B: drives. As well, certain file administrative qualities have
been left out (ie. file attribute changing, the listing of or
access to system or hidden files).
Before you run FileADMIN, make sure that the directory(s)
containing COMMAND.COM, FORMAT.COM and DISKCOPY.COM are located
in your current environment PATH setting. Please refer to your
DOS documentation for instructions on how to amend your PATH
statement if necessary. If FileADMIN is unable to locate these
three files, you will not be able to use the DOS interface to do
diskcopying or diskette formatting.

STARTING FileADMIN
FileADMIN is started from the DOS command line by issuing the
following:
FADMIN [optional parameters]
- where optional parameters may include any of the following:
/M this command line switch forces FileADMIN to
display in monochrome, even if the computer
uses a colour video. Normally, this program
will detect the attached video hardware and
display accordingly. Some video adapters
emulate colour and make FileADMIN difficult
to view on monochrome screens. If this situa-
tion occurs, use this parameter.
/A this switch overrides the default option of
allowing access to only A: and B: drives, to
allow access to all available drives.
/E this switch was implemented at the request of
a set of LAN administrators who were using
this product on a LAN. They did not want
users to have any kind of access to files on
LAN drives F: thru Z:, but be able to access
all files on drives A: thru E:. This switch
will override the /A switch above.
/D dddd this switch is used to provide FileADMIN
with a list of drives installed and possibly
support. If this switch is not used it will
default to A: and B: drives only. If one of
these drives is not physically installed, the
results could be unpredictable. The "dddd"
would be replaced by the drive letters you
would want to access (eg. /D bceg would allow
drives B: C: E: G: to be accessable by the
software).
